Print on demand stickers are everywhere on Etsy. You can’t scroll a page without seeing something boho, sarcastic, or motivational slapped onto a water bottle or laptop.

So the big question is—can you still make money selling stickers in 2025? Or is this market passed its prime?

If you’ve been eyeing the sticker game wondering whether it’s worth jumping in, this blog is for you. I’ve built a six-figure print on demand shop from scratch, and today I’m walking you through what actually works now—no hype, no fluff.

By the end of this, you’ll know:

  • What kinds of stickers sell best
  • If the market is too saturated (spoiler: it is not)
  • And how to start selling print on demand stickers step-by-step

Let’s get into it.

The Truth About Selling Stickers on Etsy in 2025

Sticker Market Reality Check

Etsy is still very much in its sticker era. Stickers were a top 5 search term in 2024, and that demand is holding strong into 2025.

With over 96 million active buyers, Etsy is a playground for sticker lovers.

Why?

They’re low-cost, collectible, giftable, and perfect for self-expression, without being to in your face.

A few examples for inspiration (not comparison because that is the thief of joy):

  • PlannerKate1, a planner sticker shop, has over 2 million sales.
  • AcornandCrowStudio has more than 529,000 in sales, primarily in the witchy-humor niche. And, it only has 166 products (at the time of writing this blog post)!

So yes, people are making real money selling stickers, in 2025. Now, I typically hate being shown a wild success story without context.

But, I’m showing you what is possible with consistent effort, determination, the right strategy, and the right mindset. These two shops were not overnight successes.

Market Saturation: Myth or Mindset?

Yes, it’s competitive. But so is every profitable niche. The difference between those who make it and those who don’t? Strategy and staying power.

Instead of asking, “Is the market saturated?” ask: “What niche can I own?” Because a niche with 100 competitors can still be profitable if 95 of them are phoning it in.

You don’t need to reinvent the wheel. You need to:

  • Find your niche or let the niche find you: Test out different designs and ideas until your customer finds you. They will buy something from you. Boom! You found your niche. Expand on that sale.
  • Serve it well: Keep giving the people what they want. Potential buyers will reach out to you with a custom request, or ask you if you have a certain design on a specific product. That is all market research and data. Capitalize on it.
  • Stick with it (pun 1000% intended): After several years in this game, much of my success is rooted in my mindset. And it is not enough to want it badly one day and work hard for a week. You have to choose to be consistent every day. When you doubt yourself, you have to change that thought into something positive, repeatedly!

What Kind of Stickers Actually Sell on Etsy?

Best-Selling Sticker Niches

Here are the themes and styles that consistently perform well:

  • Inspirational Quotes – Think aesthetic affirmations, gentle reminders, or funny truths.
  • Cute Animals – Corgis, cats, and cottagecore critters still win hearts (“cutecore” has great data on eRank, my go to keyword Etsy SEO platform).
  • Boho + Aesthetic – Minimalist rainbows, floral vibes, pastel tones.
  • Pop Culture, Politics & Memes – As long as it’s parody or legally kosher, these fly off the shelves.
  • Planner & Journal Stickers – Think kiss-cut sheets with labels, icons, and trackers.
  • Humor & Sarcasm – Niche jokes, witchy themes, teacher life, D&D references.

Your sweet spot? Blending one of these themes with your voice and angle. And if you struggle with finding your voice, or brainstorming angles then ChatGPT is your friend. Use it to help you think through different ideas.

Top-Performing Formats

Die-Cut Vinyl Stickers (Singles) Die-cut stickers are custom-shaped stickers that are cut precisely around the design—no extra border, just the shape of the artwork itself.

They’re made from durable vinyl, which makes them waterproof, scratch-resistant, and ideal for everyday use.

These are the most popular format among sticker buyers because they’re easy to peel, visually bold, and perfect for decorating water bottles, laptops, skateboards, phone cases, and more.

Kiss-Cut Sticker Sheets Kiss-cut sticker sheets are a planner lover’s dream. These are stickers that are lightly cut through the top sticker layer but not the backing, so they remain on a rectangular sheet until peeled.

Unlike die-cut stickers, kiss-cut sheets typically contain multiple smaller stickers in a coordinated theme—perfect for organization, decoration, or planning.

They’re especially popular in the bullet journal, planner, and scrapbooking communities where users want a collection of labels, icons, dates, trackers, or decorative accents all in one easy-to-store sheet.

Often seasonal, themed, or utility-focused (e.g., to-do lists, holiday countdowns, meal planning, affirmations).

They are high perceived value and ideal for bundling or subscription-style sales

Custom/Personalized Stickers Custom or personalized stickers offer a high-touch experience that mass-produced products just can’t compete with.

These could include a buyer’s name, initials, custom text, special date, or even business branding—basically anything that makes the sticker unique to the customer. Their popularity stems from their emotional and functional value.

People love to see their name on something. It feels special and intentional, which makes these perfect for:

  • Wedding favors and party decorBusiness branding (logos, packaging stickers)Gift tags and name labels for kidsJournals, planners, or scrapbooks

Plus, custom stickers tend to have higher margins because buyers are willing to pay a premium for personalization.

They’re also incredibly giftable, making them hot sellers around holidays and special occasions.

Can You Really Make Money? Let’s Break Down the Math

Pricing & Profit Margins

  • Single Stickers: $2.50–$4.00
  • Sticker Sheets: $5–$10
  • Bundles/Packs: Often $10–15 for 3–10 stickers

Using Printify (more on Printify below in Step 3), a single waterproof vinyl sticker costs around $1.20 to produce. You sell it for $3.50, minus Etsy fees (around 50–60 cents total).

Net profit per sticker = ~$1.70 (if your buyer pays for shipping)

Sell 25 stickers/day = $1,275/month. That’s totally doable with:

  • Multiple listings
  • Smart SEO (With eRank see more below)
  • Smart Scaling (I call this Amplifying)
  • Repeat buyers

And that’s just one product type. Add sheets, bundles, and custom listings, and you can scale quickly.

How to Start Selling Print on Demand Stickers (Step-by-Step)

Step 1: Find a Low-Competition Niche

Use tools like:

  • Etsy autocomplete – Start typing a keyword like “boho sticker” or “planner label” into Etsy’s search bar. The dropdown suggestions are real, high-volume searches from actual shoppers. These autocomplete phrases are gold for understanding what people are actively looking for. Use them to guide your titles, tags, and product descriptions.
  • eRank and EtsyHunt are powerful Etsy SEO tools that help you analyze keyword performance, competition, and market trends. They show you how often terms are searched and how competitive each keyword is—perfect for spotting niches where demand is high but competition is low.

Step 2: Design Smart

  • Use Canva Pro templates – Canva Pro offers pre-made templates and design elements that make creating high-quality, eye-catching stickers easy, even if you’re not a graphic designer. You can customize colors, fonts, and layouts to match your brand.
  • Batch your designs for speed – Instead of designing one sticker at a time, work in batches. Choose a theme (like funny quotes or zodiac signs) and create 5–10 variations in one go. This saves time and helps you build shop volume quickly.
  • Use ChatGPT to brainstorm themes – Not sure what to design? Ask ChatGPT for sticker ideas based on a niche (like goth life or plant lovers). You can also get help writing clever quotes or taglines.
  • Use MidJourney or ChatGPT to generate art if needed – MidJourney is an AI image generator that can help you create original artwork in specific styles. Use it to develop unique characters, backgrounds, or motifs, especially if you want a look that stands out or can’t be found in Canva.

Step 3: Choose Your Print Provider

I recommend Printify because it’s one of the most beginner-friendly and scalable print-on-demand platforms available. Printify is free.

It integrates seamlessly with Etsy, offers a wide range of sticker materials and sizes (including waterproof vinyl), and you only pay when you make a sale—no upfront costs or inventory required.

It’s also ideal for scaling since you can automate order fulfillment and switch between different print providers if you want better pricing, faster shipping, or niche material options.

Step 4: Create Beautiful Mockups

Creating professional-looking mockups helps your product listings stand out and creates an exceptional shopping and buying experience for the buyer. They see your item and must have it!

This is especially important for stickers where customers care about size, finish, and how they’ll use them.

  • Purchase styled mockups on Etsy – Look for mockups that show stickers on laptops, notebooks, water bottles, or planner pages. These help customers visualize the final product and increase conversion.
  • Show size comparisons and real-life use – Include graphics that show your sticker next to a ruler, coin, or hand for scale. Add photos that demonstrate use in real-life scenarios (e.g., on a laptop or packaging).

Step 5: Optimize Your Etsy Listings

Etsy SEO is about making your listings easy for the right buyers to find and understand. It works hand in hand with great design.

Use low-competition, searched keywords to create keyword-rich titles and tags. Think like a buyer.

Step 6: Launch With Volume

Volume gives you data, increases visibility, and helps build trust faster.

15–30 listings minimum – This gives Etsy enough content to work with and helps you test what themes or styles resonate best.

Offer bundles early to increase cart size – Bundles or multi-packs increase your average order value and appeal to buyers looking for deals or gift sets.

How to Stand Out in a Crowded Market

Leverage What’s Trending

Jumping on trends early can be a huge growth accelerator for your sticker shop. Here’s how to keep your finger on the pulse:

  • Etsy Trends page – This is Etsy’s official resource that shows seasonal search trends, buyer behavior, and niche-specific highlights. Visit it monthly to see what’s climbing in popularity so you can adjust your designs accordingly.
  • Pinterest Predicts – Pinterest releases an annual report on up-and-coming trends based on user saves and searches. This is a goldmine for discovering themes before they blow up—perfect for designing ahead of the curve.
  • Your own Etsy stats – Your shop’s Etsy analytics (inside the Shop Manager) reveal which keywords are getting views on your products, what products convert, and which listings need a refresh. Review these weekly and use them to guide what products to create more of.

Start an Email List Early

Email isn’t just for big brands. It’s your direct line to superfans, returning buyers, and people who want in on what’s next.

  • Use a freebie to build your email list – This could be a monthly digital wallpaper, a sticker sampler printable, a digital design download, or access to exclusive early releases.
  • Sign up for an email provider. Kit (formerly ConvertKit) is a beginner-friendly email platform that I use for my email list. The best part? There is a FREE plan! You can email up to 10,000 subscribers for free. Set up an automated welcome email that delivers the freebie and introduces your shop vibe.
  • Send consistent value – You don’t have to email daily. A monthly or biweekly check-in with new arrivals, behind-the-scenes updates, or exclusive discounts is enough to keep people engaged.

This one step turns a one-time customer into a loyal buyer. And the best part? You own the list—no algorithm required.

Final Thoughts: Stick With It, Literally

Can you make money selling print on demand stickers? Hell yes. But like any real business, it takes strategy, patience, and consistency.
