Is Etsy Plus worth it? If you’ve ever hovered over that little “Upgrade to Etsy Plus” button and wondered this, you’re not alone.

A lot of sellers (especially newer ones) assume that paying Etsy $10/month will somehow make the algorithm love you more. That you’ll magically show up higher in search, rake in more views, and get that sweet, sweet passive income flowing faster.

Sorry, but Etsy Plus is not a traffic hack.

It’s a bundle of tools. Some are helpful, especially if you’re already seeing decent traction. Others are… just kind of cute extras. If you’re early in your Etsy journey, you may be better off investing that $10 in better photos or Etsy SEO tools.

In this guide, we’re breaking it all down:

  • What Etsy Plus really includes
  • Which tools actually impact visibility and sales
  • What beginners should watch out for
  • When it does make sense to subscribe

Let’s dig in so you can make a grounded, strategic call — not a hopeful guess.

What Is Etsy Plus in 2025?

Etsy Plus is a $10/month upgrade that gives sellers a bundle of promotional and branding tools, monthly credits, and recently — access to Etsy Marketplace Insights, Etsy’s internal data tool. Here’s everything you get:

1. 15 Monthly Listing Credits

These cover the $0.20 listing fee for 15 items, essentially giving you $3 back each month. If you’re launching new products regularly, or have a lot of listings these credits could help. But they do expire monthly, so unused credits don’t roll over.

2. $5 Etsy Ads Credit

Each month, you get $5 to spend on Etsy Ads, which is about 3–5 clicks depending on your competition. While that’s not game-changing, it lets you test ads on a new or high-performing product risk-free. For sellers already running ads, it feels like a mini rebate; for others, it’s a way to dip your toe into Etsy Ads without committing extra funds. However, read my article on Etsy Ads to see if they are worth it and how to use them strategically.

3. Advanced Shop Customization

This includes carousel banners (which rotate between up to four clickable images), collage-style visuals, and the ability to highlight featured listings. You also unlock custom shop color schemes — great for reinforcing your branding. These features don’t boost search visibility but may help convert visitors once they’re on your page. One drawback is that you don’t really notice this customization on mobile like you do on desktop.

4. Restock Alerts

Shoppers can now click “Notify me when available” on sold-out listings. When you restock, Etsy sends them an email automatically — no manual follow-up needed. It’s an excellent tool for re-engaging warm leads and increasing your chances of a second-chance sale without needing your own email list or external tool.

5. Discounts

You get 50% off your first year of a custom domain through Hover, plus discounts on branded shipping boxes and printed marketing materials through partners like Moo. These help elevate your packaging and branding when you’re ready to invest in a more premium customer experience. I do not use these since I have my own standalone Shopify store in addition to my Etsy shop. And, Printify’s print providers handle packaging and shipping.

6. 6-Month Adobe Express Premium Trial

This bonus gives you access to Adobe’s graphic design tool, ideal for creating high-quality shop banners, Instagram posts, or listing mockups. It’s especially useful for non-designers who need professional templates without hiring out. I do not take advantage of this offer.

7. Access to Etsy Marketplace Insights

This is the most visibility-relevant upgrade. You get Etsy’s own data on top search terms, seasonal trends, keyword performance, and category insights. Data that was previously only accessible through third party tools like erank. If you know how to interpret it, this tool helps you build your product strategy around real demand instead of guesses.

The Truth About Etsy Visibility (What Etsy Plus Will Not Do)

Let’s be clear:

✨ Etsy Plus does NOT:

  • Boost your search ranking
  • Give you priority placement
  • Favor your listings in the algorithm
  • Increase traffic automatically

What does increase visibility?

  • Low-competition keywords
  • High click-through rates
  • High conversion rates
  • Listing quality + activity
  • Well-optimized titles/tags

Etsy Plus Features — Which Ones Actually Move the Needle?

Feature #1 — Etsy Marketplace Insights (The Only Visibility-Relevant Tool)

Marketplace Insights is the strongest visibility asset in Etsy Plus — and a serious step up for sellers who know how to use it. You can research top search terms, spot emerging keyword trends, and analyze competition levels across categories. For example, you might see “vintage mushroom wall art” trending with low competition — that’s gold for a niche shop.

Use this tool to validate product ideas before you design, test keywords based on real demand, and plan seasonal inventory based on actual search spikes. It removes guesswork from your SEO strategy and helps you act on data — not vibes.

Feature #2 — Listing Credits (Lowering Costs, Not Increasing Traffic)

These 15 credits save you $3 monthly, covering 15 new listings or renewals. If you’re consistently launching new products — like 4 new shirts a week — you’ll use them all and reduce your out-of-pocket fees.

If you’re not listing that often? You’re leaving credits on the table. These do not help you rank better — they just soften the blow of Etsy’s $0.20 per listing fee.

That said, the more you list, the broader your keyword net becomes — which can increase impressions and click opportunities. But that’s an indirect effect, not a result of the credits themselves.

Feature #3 — Etsy Ads Credits (Only Helpful If You Already Run Ads)

Etsy Plus gives you a $5/month credit to try ads. That might get you a few clicks depending on the niche — in highly competitive categories like “custom shirt” or “Christmas gift,” those $5 won’t stretch far. And, as I’ve written before, Etsy Ads are only helpful on products that have already sold organically.

But if you’re already running ads — especially on proven listings — that $5 is free visibility. You can use it to push a high-converting product or test a trending niche without risk.

Important: if your listings aren’t optimized or don’t convert, that $5 could hurt more than help. Etsy penalizes listings with low conversion rates, even if they’re promoted — so ads should only come after your listing strategy is dialed in.

Feature #4 — Advanced Shop Customization (Nice to Have, Not Need to Have)

These visual upgrades — like a carousel banner or featured listings layout — help you brand your shop like a boutique, not a flea market. That only matters when buyers are already in your shop. It matters less when shoppers buy directly from your listing without entering your shop, which happens for a majority of buyers.

If you’re getting traffic, this can help with credibility and conversion, especially for repeat customers or buyers browsing your full catalog.

But if you’re not getting traffic yet? No one sees that branding. It’s a beautiful storefront in the middle of nowhere.

Use this feature once you have consistent views, not before.

Feature #5 — Restock Alerts (Silent Power for Repeat Sales)

This feature often gets overlooked, but it’s a conversion tool in disguise.

When a buyer sees “sold out” on your listing, they don’t just leave — they can opt-in for a restock alert. Etsy emails them the second that listing is live again. No effort on your part.

That’s incredibly valuable for POD sellers who rotate inventory, sell out of seasonal designs, or do limited drops. It turns a missed opportunity into a future sale and keeps shoppers connected to your brand passively.

It’s like having an invisible email list without the setup or third-party apps.

Feature #6 — Discounts (Only Worth It If You’re Already Scaling)

If you’re not printing business cards or buying packaging, these perks won’t matter. But if you’re scaling, attending markets, or investing in branding, the discounts on Moo printing, domain names, and shipping supplies add real value.

But for print on demand seller, this is not valuable at all.

Feature #7 — Adobe Express Premium Trial (Great for Branding Assets)

The 6-month trial gives you access to templates, design tools, and social media graphics that can elevate your branding. Use it to create matching product images, Instagram posts, listing mockups, or Pinterest pins.

I’ve never used this, but I love Canva and other AI design tools like Midjourney and Ideogram, so this would not be worth it. I think you can have a booming, profitable shop with Canva alone, which costs much less.

Final Thoughts

If you’re a new seller, I say skip it — for now. Focus on the things that actually move the needle: SEO, product photos, keyword strategy, pricing, and your offer. Once you’re seeing steady sales and have 50+ listings? That’s when Plus starts to make sense.

If you’re an established seller with a strong catalog and repeat customers, Etsy Plus can be worth it just for Marketplace Insights + restock alerts + brand polish. And with $8 in monthly credits, it only needs to bring in one extra sale to break even.

It’s not a shortcut. It’s a toolkit. Use it well.

The Best SEO and Design Tools for an Etsy Shop:

These are the only tools I use for my shop!

Canva: Canva is the most amazing tool. It is user friendly, and always improving! The tools that Canva has have evolved so much since I first started using it in 2022–for the better. I use it almost everyday. I use it to create designs, to edit AI designs, and to create product mockups.

Midjourney: Midjourney is an AI image tool that blows my mind every time I use it. It takes some time to get the prompts down. Once you play with it, you will get better at creating images and art to include on your print on demand products.

E-Hunt: E-Hunt is fantastic for competitor research and some light keyword research. My favorite aspect of E-Hunt is the Chrome extension that allows you to see the sales amount for an individual item on Etsy. Check out this article to see an example.

eRank: eRank is an SEO data tool that also allows you to search the competition and will also give you key words for your Etsy listing. It is also a low cost tool that will help you find low competition and highly searched niches.

Printify: Printify is a print-on-demand (POD) service that allows individuals and businesses to create and sell custom-designed products without needing to manage inventory or handle fulfillment. I put my designs on products offered by Printify. When an item sells, Printify prints and ships to my customer.
