Why Choose a Luxury Villa in Portugal?

For me, I wanted great weather in October, which is when my birthday falls. I wanted true relaxation and luxury with my entire family. I couldn’t get that with a hotel.

Luxury for me is a private pool, generous bedroom sizes, beautiful modern appliances and finishes, gorgeous bathrooms, and comfortable indoor and outdoor space.

While I love my family, I also needed space for us all to retreat when we tired of each other. I’m sure you can relate!

We had my 2 kids (3 and 10 months) and husband, sister and her husband, brother and his 3 older children, my parents in their 70s, my sister-in-law, my brother-in-law, and a friend and her 3 year old son.

That is a LOT of people in a villa. Well, let me tell you, this villa was literal perfection.

Because I wanted all of this, I needed more than a standard hotel experience. Before I jump into the incredibly luxurious villa and all of its features, I want to explain why I chose the Algarve.

The Algarve: The Jewel of the Southern Coast

When it comes to choosing the ultimate luxury villa in Portugal, the Algarve stands out as the perfect spot for a dreamy getaway. The Algarve is Portugal’s southern coast, and it has it all: golden beaches, charming villages, world-class golf courses, and a history as rich as its cuisine.

Beautiful Beaches of the Algarve

Let’s get one thing straight—Algarve’s beaches are exceedingly beautiful. From expansive golden sands to secluded coves, this coastline reads like a love letter from the ocean itself.

Some of the best villas in the Algarve are strategically nestled close to these stunning beaches, so you can trade crowded sun loungers for serene, private views.

Here’s what makes the beaches here so unbeatable:

  • Praia da Marinha or Praia da Falésia have earned global recognition for their beauty.
  • Crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or low-key floating in the sun.
  • Plenty of water sports like paddleboarding, surfing, or even a leisurely boat trip along the caves and cliffs.

A Golfer’s Paradise

If golf is your love language, just wait until you tee off in the Algarve. Known as a golfer’s paradise, the region offers some of Europe’s most celebrated courses.

Picture yourself driving through fairways at the renowned Vila Sol Golf Course, with ocean views as your backdrop—it doesn’t get better than that.

Here are some courses worth adding to your itinerary:

  1. Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course – A championship course in Vilamoura, designed for professionals and amateurs alike.
  2. Vale do Lobo Royal Golf Course – Iconic for its cliff-edge greens and unforgettable Atlantic Ocean scenery.
  3. San Lorenzo Golf Course – Nestled in a nature reserve with plenty of lush views and challenging holes.

The Best Luxury Villa in the Algarve

Ok, the information you have been waiting for. This is the villa in which my entire family had the pleasure to luxuriate. This villa, was designed with comfort in mind for a huge, multi generational family, from the ground up.

Modern villa entrance in Portugal featuring a sleek black door, geometric tile flooring, and tall potted plants framing the doorway.

It had floor-to-ceiling windows that flooded the rooms with sunlight. The villa is 2 floors and you walk in the front door and are hit with views of the ocean and an infinity pool. It offered the kind of privacy and tranquility a hotel can’t offer.

Unfortunately, most of my pictures were from the pool and view, because that is where we spent most of our time. But, check out the much more professional photos of the interior here.

This luxury villa had 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. My father is not super mobile, so it was important to find a villa that had rooms on the first floor. The villa went even further, because it had an elevator!

It made getting my 80 year old Dad, and my 2 strollers, up and down so easy. We literally didn’t have to worry about a thing.

The private pool was not just any swimming pool. It was designed for lounging, playing, and even Instagram-worthy infinity edges. It was inviting.

On arrival, I jumped into the pool in my clothes. I could not wait.

The entire luxury villa had air conditioning and kept us cool during the warmer days, and it had a fully equipped kitchen.

Even though I did not open my laptop once during those 2 weeks, there was a strong WIFI connection.

Some of my family members were working remotely from the villa and did not have any connection issues.

I called in a private chef because I did not want to cook for that many people for 2 full weeks, and I did not want my Mom to either. I wanted everyone to enjoy their time and be catered to.

Upon request, the owner of the villa has several chefs that they can recommend and arrange. We used Quinta Chef and were not disappointed. We were well fed, and we had a few allergies and preferences that they worked around beautifully.

The bathrooms rivaled those seen in boutique spas. Each room had its own bathroom!

In addition to the 7 rooms, there was a huge living room and then a game room with a pool table, foosball table, a huge television with Netflix, and big comfy couches.

Then, the outdoor space was truly unmatched. As I mentioned, the infinity pool overlooked the ridiculous ocean views. There was also an outdoor shower. Outdoor furniture was perfect for sunbathing, dining, relaxing. There were pool toys, an outdoor grill, and even mini golf.

We ate outside most days by the pool.

This place felt so luxurious, I didn’t want to leave the villa! It was truly an incredible experience. One of the most memorable experiences was having my entire family in the private pool on my birthday. The villa just made each day special.

This luxury villa offers far more than just stunning views and elegant interiors—it’s an experience designed to pamper you even before you arrive.

Unmatched Services and Convenience

Complimentary services include 24/7 support for complete peace of mind, a dedicated concierge to provide personalized attention, expert itinerary planning, and guidance before and after your stay to ensure every detail is flawless.

For those looking to elevate their stay even further, a wide range of additional services can be arranged upon request: from spa treatments in the villa to airport transfers, curated tours, grocery delivery, fitness staff, and even private security.

Families are also well cared for with options like babysitting and baby equipment rental.

If you need a translator, laundry service (even though the villa has a washer and dryer), or a private guide, the answer is almost always yes—just ask.

It was like we had a luxury resort to ourselves.

Perfect for Every Season

A luxury villa in Portugal isn’t just your summer spot—it’s your year-round retreat. Thanks to the Algarve’s warm average temperatures, there’s never really a bad time to visit.

I mentioned that we were there for 2 weeks in the middle of October. And we were in the pool almost every day. I think we had 1 or 2 days of rain.

During the summer months, the easy access to sandy beaches and water sports like kayaking are unbeatable.

Grab your sunscreen, and your biggest issue will be deciding if you’re hitting an iconic beach like Praia da Falésia or exploring the dramatic cliffs at Praia da Marinha. Plus, with features like air conditioning in the villa, you’ll stay cool no matter how high the temps climb.

Portugal’s mild average temperatures mean you’ll rarely need to bundle up, making it a great choice for any season. This private villa keeps you close to nature’s beauty and cultural experiences with ease.

How to Get There

From Lisbon/Lisbon Airport

Getting to the villa from Lisbon Airport is surprisingly easy and makes for a beautiful journey through the heart of Portugal. The drive takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on traffic, and follows a well-maintained highway route (A2 southbound) straight into the Algarve region.

Once you land at Lisbon Airport (LIS), you can rent a car directly from the arrivals terminal. Having a car is ideal—not just for reaching the villa, but also for exploring the nearby beaches, charming towns, and hidden local gems that make the Algarve so special.

You’ll take the A2 motorway toward the Algarve, then connect to the A22, which leads you toward Lagoa. From there, it’s a short drive on local roads to reach the villa’s private location. I recommend using Google Maps or Waze for real-time directions, especially once you’re off the highway.

If you’re not up for driving, a private transfer service is also an option. Several Algarve-based companies offer door-to-door rides in comfortable vehicles, which can be a great way to start your trip stress-free—especially if you’re arriving after a long flight.

Whichever way you choose, the journey sets the tone for what’s to come: sunshine, sea views, and total luxury.

From Faro Airport

If you’re flying directly into the Algarve, Faro Airport (FAO) is the closest and most convenient gateway to the villa. Located just over an hour from the property, the drive from Faro is smooth and scenic, making your arrival feel like the beginning of a true getaway.

Once you collect your bags, car rental desks are located inside the terminal. Having your own car is highly recommended, especially if you plan to explore local beaches, visit nearby towns like Carvoeiro or Lagos, or simply stock up at the market with ease.

From Faro Airport, take the A22 (Via do Infante) heading west. You’ll pass through beautiful stretches of countryside, citrus groves, and glimpses of the Atlantic. Exit near Lagoa and follow the local roads to the villa, which sits tucked away in a peaceful, upscale neighborhood.

Prefer not to drive? Private transfers from Faro Airport are widely available and easy to book in advance. Uber and Bolt are also readily available.

Renting a Car:

Some travelers have shared stories about problems with rental cars in Portugal, but my experiences have been smooth and easy. I’ve rented cars several times, both on trips and while living here.

I always use Discover Cars to book my rental cars in Portugal. This service compares rates from many different rental companies, so I can see all my options in one place. The best part of their website is that you can filter by ratings, leaving you with only the best rental companies.

The prices are clear, with all required fees, taxes, and extras listed upfront—so there are no hidden costs.

Discover Cars works with car rental companies to offer better prices, and I usually feel confident that I’m getting a good rate. Their roadside help is quick and reliable.

Every time I rent, it’s been straightforward and stress-free. I can easily find trusted companies and never worry about surprise charges or scams when I return the car. If you’re thinking about renting a car in Portugal, I highly recommend checking prices with Discover Cars first.

Conclusion

Luxury villa holidays in Portugal aren’t just a vacation—they’re an investment in unforgettable experiences. I created the best memories with my entire family. This villa was a 10/10.

Now it’s time to make your dream getaway a reality. Imagine starting your mornings with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and ending your days under the stars on your private terrace.

This is your sign to stop settling for ordinary and step into extraordinary. Ready to book? Your next vacation deserves nothing less than luxury.
